Doing Our Part - COVID-19 Stories

I'm excited about this new WOA Coronavirus communication format where we can share stories, links, or anecdotes about ourselves, or about other WOA Members, friends, or colleagues involved in the care of COVID-19 patients, policy direction, public education, or participation in any other areas to affect the positive outcome of this crisis.

I’d like to share an article about a fascinating invention by one of my colleagues at the University of California, Irving. Dr. Arthur Kreitenberg, an Orthopaedic Surgeon and professor at UC Irvine School of Medicine, and his son Elliot Kreitenberg, have invented the first UVC system designed to quickly disinfect an aircraft's interior surfaces in minutes between flights. The machine, no larger than a flight attendant's food and drink cart, is called the GermFalcon. With one pass up the aisle, one pass down the aisle, and a minute for the bathrooms and galley, this device can wipe out flu viruses from an entire narrow-body plane in about three minutes.

I invite you to read the following article on this exciting invention, the GermFalcon:

University of California, Irvine
First Vice President, Western Orthopaedic Association
