MISSION

The mission of the Western Orthopaedic Foundation (WOF, Foundation) is to advance the science and practice of orthopaedic surgery throughout the western region of the United States via education and research.

VISION

The WOF and its parent organization, the Western Orthopaedic Association (WOA), will be acknowledged and recognized as premiere sources of information and resources to provide the tools needed to deliver high quality care for musculoskeletal conditions. The financial support and oversight provided by The Foundation will help its recipients achieve educational and research excellence. The WOF vision statement is: connecting people; inspiring innovation.

OBJECTIVES

  1. The WOF will underwrite research and educational programs presented at the annual meeting of the WOA.
  2. The WOF will collaborate with the AAOS, OREF, ORS, ABOS and other state, regional, and national orthopaedic organizations as well as allied health organizations to promote and support research and educational programs to benefit orthopaedic patient care.
  3. The WOF will join in partnership with other public and private institutions throughout the region and nationally to engage orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals in research, and education.
  4. The WOF will work to increase the awareness of the societal burden of musculoskeletal disorders across a wide spectrum of diverse caregivers and audiences.
  5. The WOF will help assure the long term financial success of the WOA annual meeting through the selection and support of cutting edge research presentations and discussion.
  6. The WOF will encourage funding from industry and from philanthropic donors for the programs and endeavors that fit with the core values of the organization.
