My Return To The Garden Island

The 2017 WOA Annual Meeting (August 2-5) on Kauai is fast approaching and the resort rooms are nearly filled.  While it marks the Association’s ‘every third year’ return to Hawaii, this meeting is particularly exciting for me and my family.

In 2009 at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, I proposed to my wife, Carolyn, who will now be attending her sixth straight annual meeting.  We will be returning to Kauai for the first time since that trip with 2 children in tow (ages 4 and 18 months) and cannot wait to share the Garden Island with them.  I anticipate many attendees will be bringing family this year.

The resort offers priceless sunrise views and the meeting schedule will allow for golf, snorkeling, and island exploration.  Many features distinguish Kauai from its neighboring islands: waterfalls, petroglyphs, red clay apparel, wild roosters…  As nostalgia turns to anticipation, I share some of my 2009 photos including a resort room view and images of some Kauai “can’t miss” attractions, including Queen’s Bath and Spouting Horn.  We look forward to seeing everyone in Hawaii.

Jeff Your story of personal connection with Kauai and the Grand Hyatt resort itself resonates with me, as I am sure it likely does with many. It's a spectacular and unique venue, and the meeting is shaping up to be memorable. I am convinced many more trips back to Kauai will be inspired by this year's. Who knows what great personal milestones will be reached in 2017 that will generate great stories like yours, looking back 8 years from now? Bob
